Welcome back to the Class 5 webpage all ready for 2017!
I'm Stuart White, the Class 5 teacher, and I'm now beginning my second term at Linton, having thoroughly enjoyed working with the fabulous children in Year 5, as well as the wonderful Mrs Flanagan and all the other excellent school staff colleagues. As you'll now know, I was previously teaching at Stanley Drapkin Primary in Steeple Bumpstead from September 2000 to July 2016, teaching Year 2 (a little), Year 5 (much more) and Year 6 (lots of years!). While new-ish to Linton, my twin daughters spent all their junior years here before moving onto LVC, therefore, as parent, I am very familiar with the school and I know that my girls had 4 very happy years here.
Year 5 itself remains a crucial school year for the children to continue preparing for the challenges of Year 6, so all learning and expectations necessarily will be challenging as they build on all previous learning and resume extending their skills and knowledge even further. However, appropriate support (and challenge) will always be available.
The Class 5 team is bolstered by additional adult support on a Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday from Mrs Louise Flanagan and I am delighted to be working with her. Meanwhile, on a Thursday and Friday, I'm equally pleased to have some additional support from Mrs Debbie Belsham (who works with Class 6). Likewise, as part of a wider team in addition to the children, the school, myself and learning support colleagues, I also look forward to continuing to work with you this term in order to support your child's progress, confidence and learning independence.

Our topic this term is all about the Prehistoric Britain. We will have lots of fun exploring this period - discovering cave art, building our own models of stonehenge, learning about the challenging roles of archaeologists as well as following the adventures of a Stone age child in Michelle Paver's wonderful book, 'Wolf Brother'.
