Our School Day

Our School Day

Parents and carers are asked to ensure that their children arrive promptly for the start of the school day. The gate is opened at 8.20am when children can come into the playground. Our school day ends at 2.55pm.

The bell is rung at 8.30am for registration. Children then line up before being taken into school by their class teacher.

Morning assembly takes place on a Monday to Thursday until 9.15am. On a Friday we have our Ceilidh Assembly which takes place from 2.15pm until 2.55pm.  We alternate each week between a Lower School Ceilidh and Upper School Ceilidh.  We welcome parents, carers and relatives to these Friday celebrations.

Morning playtimes

At 10.15am until 10.30am all children have a mid morning break.

Lunch

Children in Year 5 and 6 have their lunch at 12.00pm and their break ends at 12.50pm. Those in Year 3 and Year 4 have lunch from 12.10pm until 1.00pm.

Afternoon playtimes:

Children in Year 3 have an afternoon fruit break which takes place outside where possible. Children are encouraged to bring in a piece of fruit from home to eat at this time.

Drop-off and collection

At the beginning and end of the school day, parents are welcome into the playground. This helps to build up a close relationship between home and school. If the arrangement for your child’s collection at home time has to be altered, please let the office know. This avoids any confusion or upset.

Any child who is not met by an adult at the end of the school day is taken back into the school by the teacher on duty to wait in the reception area. The office staff will then contact the parents or carers.

Getting to school

To get to and from school, walking is definitely the best option! There are lots of benefits: it’s healthier than travelling by car, it improves the safety of pedestrians and road-users, and it respects nearby residents and parking regulations. Alternatively, we have bike-racks. If you do

need to travel by car, please park wisely.
